It's just as ugly. Sucks up just as much gas. (Less than 8 MPG.) But I think the Lambo's got just a bit more style. It was billed as "The car that'll go where your Countache can't." (They stopped making them in the '90s, I believe.) I guess it's fun to think about driving a vehicle like this but I usually just go lie down until the feeling goes away. It's not so much the extravagance that turns me off about vehicles like this but the fact that they suck up so much fuel that they tend to raise the price of gas for other people. Because there are so many gas guzzlers like this on the road the supply of gas becomes more scarce causing prices to go up. I suppose if somebody had a genuine need for a car like this or even if the person enjoyed off-road driving as a sport/hobby I wouldn't be so negative towards them. However, for most people, the closest they will ever come to off-roading in a car like this will be when they drive it into their back yard to wash it! Then they convince themselves that they "need" it for the 1 : 1,000,000 chance that they'll ever get stuck in a mud hole or a snow drift while backing out of their driveway. My suggestion is that people that own these things should be forced to get their trucking licence because thats pretty much what these things are. If you like to go off road, but first need to drive to a place to go off road, the Hummer seems like a good thing... but I admit it's a bit too expensive to be knocking around. It's design is good for off road, but bad for looks. Probably good for a military vehicle (=harder to hit), but completely nonsensical for a recreational vehicle. The H2 is indeed different from the Hummer "proper". For one thing, the wheels are smaller and narrower. I see people driving these things into the valet parking at my theatre's mall's entrances and I lose all capacity for rational thought or sense of reality. I heard one radio station giving one away to some caller in a drawing, or something. I would NOT want to win this thing. Like, sure, it's a real pleasure to get the opportunity to drive a 7 mile-to-the-gallon vehicle. They aren't driven on dirt driveways much less off-road, which is real waste of equipment. In Central NJ, a Hummer SUV is driven by a yuppie female with a cell phone welded permanently to her head. The military (looking) version is driven by a yuppie male with a cell phone welded permanently to his head. One guy here has an olive-drab version, big tires, jacked up over the big tires, and it's always covered with mud and dirt. He must be the sole off-road user around here. Must be a law here. When one buys a McMansion one must park an SUV and a minivan in the driveway. They all seem to be following this law.
