I run a single, two machines, with 6000' reels so I can park it most of the time. During the summer (you guys know how those old booths are) I go barefoot. Yes, OSHA would have a fit but I'd rather go barefoot most of the time anyway. Just me. The x-over pedals aren't too bad on bare feet. The theater owner asked me one day why I didn't wear flip-flops or sandals. I told him it would defeat the purpose of going barefoot. I did drop a reel on my foot some years back, slipped from my hands as I took it from the rewinder. I happened to be wearing work boots that day, with steel toes, and the reel dropped nearer to my ankle and bypassed the steel, and broke a couple bones in my foot. That is, until one night when I touched the motor switch and got a good jolt of voltage. A friend of mine visiting me, wearing shoes, got no shock. Barefoot on concrete grounded me pretty well. We never found the problem that caused the shock that I got, as far as I know. It just never happened again.  |  IP: Logged
