As eyebrow piercings do, it closed up. I would have gotten it done again but I never could because of work...hmmmmm. I think it's quite accepted in cosmetogoly school, maybe I'll get it again! Like Dan said, not everyone does it for shock value. Personally I have a crooked nose (yup ), the eyebrow piercing always offset it and made it not as noticable. When I had it I got many compliments saying I looked better from the young and old alike. There is no show in that, I just personally liked it. People have the right to do anything they want with their own bodies, if they want to mutilate it then go ahead! I think the most piercings at once I ever had was 12. 11 on my ears and one in my eyebrow. I just liked them and it got to the point where it was either piercings or a good paying job...I picked the job. Although I do have to say the eyeball piercing in WAY too much for me! I also am not to fond of nose piercings, I'd be too afraid I'd rip it out blowing my nose. Emma, one of my friends back in Massachuetts had 134 piercings a year ago (he probably has more now), 31 were on his face, 2 on his wee wee. He looked more like a machine then a man! THAT was too many for me. Nice guy though...  |  IP: Logged Carl Martin Phenomenal Film Handler Posts: 1424 From: Oakland, CA, USA Registered: Feb 2002 posted 04-12-2004 07:45 AM                        tattoos and piercings... i'm not into it. of course everyone has a right to do it, but i don't respect the motives behind "body modification". nor do i like makeup. and don't get me started on fake tits. i have no use for shaving, though i suppose some might. i think "body acceptance" is a lot healthier, though more difficult when the opposite is celebrated so much. self-expression does not require that one's self be the canvas. hell, in the case of tattooing, one is usually paying for the privilege of being someone else's canvas. so that's not what it's about. is it about self-empowerment? maybe so, but i think we ought to be able to achieve this "on the inside" without carrying the culturally determined signifiers on our persons. otherwise it starts as self-deception. to gain the respect of others? by exploiting their propensity to judge based on appearances. no, i can't respect that. one should first decide what is true, good, and utile. then let these qualities be the basis of beauty. beauty is a promise. if we strive for beauty itself but disregard its basis then we are chasing a chimera, which promises nothing. carl  |  IP: Logged Emma Tomiak Expert Film Handler Posts: 238 From: Carrollton, TX, USA Registered: Aug 2003 posted 04-12-2004 10:31 PM                        I didn't get my piercings for the sole purpose of competing with anyone. Sure, it's fun to joke around and see who is "winning" with the most piercings (as I did above), but thats not what it's all about. I got pierced because I like piercings. Not all piercings, mind you, but most. Lots of people don't like them and thats cool. Dan, why the hell else would someone chop their friggin' finger off on purpose, or risk damage to their eyes!?
