Note that there is luminance detail out beyond the frequency of the color subcarrier which is why better tv's use comb filters to recover it for added sharpness. Orange-flavored chicken. It should handle more bandwidth, in theory The bandwidth of an antenna is not necessarily directly related to what is on the signal it is receiving but as to the frequency(s) it is designed to operate at. You'd be hard pressed to find a color tv that has an actual video bandwidth very much in excess of the 3.58 chroma subcarrier frequency although some direct view tvs can make it to 4 mhz with difficulty. Even studio type color monitirs with extremely fine pitch phosphor screens have difficulty at 4.2 mhz! Thats one reason why you'll always find several good b&w monitors in video facilities. The designed in video bandwidth in color TVs is in most cases related to the pitch of the phosphor on the screen since that is what actually determines the displayed bandwidth or highest frequency that can be displayed. CRT type color projection and B&W sets can have a much wider overall video bandwidth then direct view color sets since they have in essence a one piece phosphor screen, they are only limited by the electron beam spot size. Digital Television remedies the limited video bandwidth problem but you are still ultimately limited at the highest displayed frequency by the phosphor pitch, LCD pitch, electron beam spot size, etc. Thyristor because its a more interesting device....
