Congratulations and good luck to you, Mike! From someone who has lived and travelled all over the country (often at a moment's notice), it helps to look at it as a big adventure -- like going camping. Consequently, I can comfortably call most anywhere home.

People have a natural tendency to become frightened and/or lonely when they're away for long. Just make the world smaller in your mind. Really. You're not leaving the planet (i.e., we're all on the same ground). It's not like you can never go back, or not be where you want to be, ever. Wherever you want is just a highway removed, a short drive, bus ride, or flight; and never more than a few hours or days away. Anywhere.

I have now been with GE Nuclear for over 7 months and in all that time I have been home a week at xmas and since then a total of 3 weeks, a day here and a weekend there. It has been a massive learning curve and i am still only beginning to learn things. I am in Memphis now thru the end of the year with a couple of trips to plant outages thrown in. I have upgraded my laptop to a SONY VAIO and i am very happy with it. I am hoping that by the beginning of the year to be back home again and not have to travel so much. Memphis has a lot going on here and we spend some nights on Beale Street and some nights at the casino's in Tunica, mostly on weekends since during the week we are to wiped out to do much of anything.
