I'm in charge of a electronics R&D lab for GE, all the BEST test gear in the world is HP and from that I bought a HP computer.....what a piece of shit...... It was a poorly designed piece of crap that was rushed to market without proper testing (and redesign). It got JVC a bad reputation, and they STILL have not learned their lession. I just looked at a problem for a client. They were having trouble playing VHS tapes back on their video projectors. The picture would jitter up and down. Looking at the picture on a pulse cross monitor, I could see a bad hook in the sync after the head switch. Opening the machine up (yes, it is a JVC), I noticed what looked like the machine was out of alignment, the tape going into the entrance guide was tight on the bottom, and floping around near the top. I looked for a way to fix this, but could not figure out how. I then looked at another machine of the same model, it had the same problem. These were new machines; I told them to return the machines, and buy something other than JVC. Over time I would think that this problem would cause edge damage to a tape that had been run on this machine a number of times. I think the HRS-6700 came out around the same time, and that was actually a good VCR. Brad had a couple of clones of this model, but I forget what they were called. Anyway the 6700 lasted me a few years. The second Gateway was a #$#%#$%@$#%$#@%%#$@ piece of . It was sent in for service six times. It had the wrong voltage battery in it when I bought it. Constantly overheated and the screen had a bad habit of going blank. I thank the idiot who stole it out of my college dorm room. They deserve what they got. You didn't have the 6700. You had an inferior clone with a lower number. Your machine did too have this problem. You don't see it unless you take the tape and play it on a different player (and are picky about the sync). I have both your machine and my machine (5800 and 6700 respectively) right here and opened them both up. Inside yours there is a sticker from JVC of Japan on the audio sync that says "teh suk!", and on mine there is a sticker on the audio sync that says "teh awsum!"
