Camerons creme ale, alexander kieths, smithwicks is good as well. Canadian does the trick as well. I really like a beer I was drinking in Croatia, Ozujstko but sadly cannot be found here in Canada. But if you were to force me to choose, it would have to be Heineken. I like Heine's. The Beer With the Foam on the Bottom! Actually, there really WAS a beer by that name but it was just Iron City repackaged. Appearently a joke by some of the guys at the brewery. Every so often it makes a reappearence. It's full of rubbish, and just about everybody claims to hate it, but I think it has the biggest circulation of any national daily; it certainly did a few years ago. There are not that many beers from the US which are generally available over here, though there are quite a few, all bottled ones obviously, available at the Great British Beer Festival; they also sell 'Zymurgy' magazine there. The opinion which most British beer drinkers that have tried them have of US beers is that most of what comes from the big brewers, including Budweiser, is poor, and that to get a good beer you need to go to the small, independant, craft brewers. Actually, they tend to think the same with British beers, but to a greater extent with the US ones. I tried Budweiser once, and I thought it was pretty tasteless. I don't know if the stuff they sell here is imported, or if it's brewed here under licence, or even if Anheuser-Busch brew it themselves over here. I've had a look on their British web site, but it doesn't seem to say; there actually seems to be more about football and motor racing than there is about beer. Guinness Draught, Bass, Newcastle. An ice-cold cold Sam Adams is nice, and that's the lightest I'll go before I can start tasting the water. My local pub has started pitching Smithwicks ("from the people/brewers/bottlers [I forget] who brought you Guinness" the beer mat says) and it's a mighty fine, dark, and tasty beverage. And if I'm feeling really in the mood for it ... a Guinness Stout, or an Arrogant Bastard . Oh wow, 22 oz. of that and I need a Guinness Stout to wash it down and settle the stomach. That's more of a celebratory, need to wince and forget about life for a while, 7% alcohol by volume beverage. But I really do like Widmers Heffeweisen. And I have a soft spot for Weinhards Ale(Portland non craft brew). There are some fine brew pubs in Portland ans Seattle.  |  IP: Logged
