I've been hesitant to comment in this thread cuz I would probably come off as some vigilante... Where the hell is Charles Bronson when ya need him?

I have NO words to describe what ***I*** would like to do to these POS "people."

It's good to see that someone is outing these offenders.

If anyone did anything like that to my cat I would want them to meet a slow and painful end, too. But things have moved on since the days of The Old Testament. We should deal with the bastards with extreme prejudice (e.g. lock them up for a very long time), but not by sinking to their level.

The Animal Abuse website is a very good idea. As Michael points out, animal abuse is a strong indicator that an offender is likely to graduate to humans. By keeping the spotlight on these people (same principle as the Sex Offenders Register in Britain) you can help to keep that risk down.

About two years ago in my neighbourhood there was a teenage thug who started firing his air rifle at the local cats, badly hurting one of them. The Police refused to do anything for lack of evidence, and the local paper wouldn't even publish a photo of him holding the gun, taken by a resident from her upstairs window, for fear of being sued. A few days later, copies of the photo, together with another photo showing the injured cat, started to appear on lamp posts and fences in the area. The yob was never seen again, and there was no further shooting incident.
