This is a really interesting thread.

For fun, I went through my list of employees I've had over the past 26 years (around 60 names) and made a list of the ones I considered exemplary people, and the ones I was glad to see go down the road, either by my firing them or them leaving on their own. The rest fell into the 'average' category.

I wound up with 16 names on the "not-so-good" list, 26 on the "good" list, and the rest in the 'average' category. Sure enough -- there are a lot more "normal" type names among the very best people. Names like Tom, Jim, Michelle, Kim, Mary, Diane, Sherri, Molly, Melissa, and Miranda.

I thought about listing all the "bad" names here but that's just a lawsuit waiting to happen.

My mother does disability exams for the state. A woman stated that her kids were named Lemonjello, and Orangjello. Is it not obvious that she got that from a Jello box?

Absolutely TRUE. I wouldn't make this shit up!

I also beleive this works with girls names Ive dated. Ive had some dussies.
I now put woman In catagories based by name (I have them figured out) even before I meet them:)

Snopes has a section on some of the odd names like Lemonjello and Nosmo King, etc... [Smile]

Foreign names can sound particularly horrid when said in the dulcet accents of certain socio-spatial-economic groups (Natalie may sound nice in French but not when pronounced Naaa(t)aaly with the t barely pronounced.)

There is an alleged overheard conversation between two women in a Glasgow Station of "If I have another wean then I'll call it Pocahontas (pocohonis)"

Well that is what my husband's middle name is. That was the reason for choosing Angel. (He's Spanish-Mexican...) And we still have a few months before the decision is finial. [Wink]

Another note about middle names: I never disliked my middle name but most people do not pronounce it correctly. (It's Magdalene.) [Razz]

I wouldn't worry as much about the middle name as the first name. Cole Coleman would get teased as much as we used to tease Will Wilson.

This seems like the appropriate time and place for this TRUE story:

A while back in Florida, this Native American Indian boy asked his dad, the Chief, how he chose the names for his kids. The Chief replied:

"I choose the names by what I see when my children are born. I chose your sister's name, "Beautiful Morning" because it was. I chose your brother's name "White Cloud" because the sky was majestic with them.

Worst name I've come across I found while I worked at DMV in 1969 operating a collator that inserted replacement drivers license punch cards and kicked out the old card. While the machine was running a batch of cards we would look thru the cards looking for awful names. The worst I think was Enema. Often wondered if it was pronounced with a long E or what.

If I ever have a child that's a boy, his name will be Arnold Schwarzenegger Heenan. LEt's see anyone pick on him! Either that or Wolf Blitzer Heenan. What a cool f'in name that guy has.

If ya have a boy, the best way to keep people from picking on him is by naming him something like "Sue"!

Really wanna feel sorry for kids....what about "Cher" naming her daughter after a sex prevention device....or what about Frank Zappa's kids!

Yes one would if that were to be his last name but that is my maiden name... In order to change it on here I have to re-register with my married name... I'm just being lazy right now. My married name is Haro....
