Author Topic: Why are most multi-screen theatres named with the number of screens? Perhaps that's why a lot of first-timers are surprised to see five auditoriums stacked about two floors. Despite this, people from the suburbs still ask why we haven't converted to stadium. I guess they didn't notice the porthole three feet above their heads as they leave. Sometimes they grasp the size of the building, but as how big our screens are. I usually respond with "average of thirty feet wide, in focus, and scratch-free", just to put things into perspective.  |  IP: Logged Mark Lensenmayer Phenomenal Film Handler Posts: 1605 From: Upper Arlington, OH Registered: Sep 1999 posted 05-22-2006 09:16 PM                     I think AMC started the numbering thing when they started building their little shoebox theatres in the 70's. Every theatre around here just had a single name (even those with more than one screen) until AMC opened the Westerville 6 and the Eastland Plaza 6.  |  IP: Logged
