I just wish the bitrate was 1509kbs rather than the 754kbs "diet dts" stuff. Maybe we'll see something more potent on the HD-DVD or Blu-Ray front. I know it is the same bitrate as standard CD audio, but what is that? I forget. Something around 1440? Posts: 10973 From: Lawton, OK, USA Registered: Apr 2001 posted 06-06-2006 07:29 AM                     The bitrate for DTS music CDs and audio tracks on Laserdiscs is 1234.8 kilobits per second. The bitrate is a tad bit lower than the normal 1.4Mb/s level of LPCM 2.0. Something about that slight lowering of the bitrate would lessen the chance of speaker damage if someone tried to play a DTS music CD on a stereo system not equipped with a DTS decoder. I don't know if any Laserdiscs were ever produced with both a DTS and DD track. I have some strong doubts. I've only seen LDs with one format or the other. The DTS track took up the LPCM digital space and the DD track took up one of the analog channels.
