Dude! You get some shitty mileage!
My pickup gets around 22 miles to the gallon on the highway, which is actually pretty good for a 5.3 liter V-8 engine. On most trips to OKC and back I'll put about 220 miles on my truck. If I was having to drive back and forth to OKC quite a lot, I would certainly use a more fuel efficient vehicle.

And no I'm not offering tips on your love life, but still justifying the expense of gas vs a relationship seems awfully Costanza-ish, lol.
I don't think you quite understand the points I was making.

You're already spending nearly $40 just to get from point a to point b. That's before you've done anything else, like go out to eat, see a movie, go dancing, etc. You're up and past $100 pretty quickly for just one date. If you're seeing the lady every weekend, then you're paying the equivalent of a new car payment.

If I'm a cheapskate for saying that's kind of expensive then so be it. I'm glad $100 here and there on a frequent basis seems insignificant to others.

And the money is just one thing. As I said before, the time apart is an even bigger problem. The distance makes it tougher for a couple to get serious or even turn into a wedge that pushes the couple apart. There's lots of other time during the week when one can meet other people.

Could work if conditions are right.

Married people in the military do this all the time. How "single" are the each of you? Louis

Are you talking about both people in the marriage being military? Having grown up on Marine Corps bases I can say it is pretty rare for both husband and wife in a couple to be military. That sort of thing can happen, but it is usually very discouraged. Depending your rank, unit, etc. it can even be seen as improper fraternization.

A Lieutenant Colonel my father knew in New York married a woman Marine officer stationed in Washington, D.C. Every weekend he rode back and forth on the metroliner. They did that for a year. Then he got out of the Marine Corp and moved to D.C.

Most military families have to deal with long stretches of time apart. Even during peacetime it is common for military people to be stationed overseas on "unaccompanied tours" that last a year or two. Every relationship suffers for it. Infidelity can occur, whether the guy is playing around over there or his wife sends him a "Dear John" letter from stateside. It isn't easy, but many military couples are still able to make things work. Often they have other priorities, such as children to consider.

Bobby: my stereotype military family is the patient wife waiting for the navy husband to return from 9 months at sea. Some do, some don't. Louis

When I was dating my wife's college roommate, I was driving from Nashville to Florence, Alabama 3 nights a week. Left the office at 4:30 p.m. - arrived at her front door at 7:30+/-. Worked good for about 3-4 months. One night I went down un-announced to surprise her and got surprised myself when I found her with her hometown boyfriend she had failed to mention. [fu]

When I graduated from high school, a friend and I went camping one weekend and met some girls from Toledo, Ohio. At the end of the weekend, we all exchanged phone numbers and addresses. The girl I met (Debbie), she and I wrote letters 3-4 times a week to each other for almost 2 years. I went and visited her in Toledo about 3 times. Once she graduated from college, I lost touch with her. That was over 20 years ago, and I still have a box out in the garage with all of her letters in them... they even still smell like her perfume.

Come on now guys, This is a thread about how stupid long distance relationships are, not about fat fetishes or hot member pics.

I have a story about military LDRs. My ex white trash whore cuntrag of a roommate used to date a guy in the navy. He was out at sea for about a year or so. He would write her the letters and tell her how happy he was to be with her and BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH ...until a couple weeks before he was coming home, he sent her the break up letter. I don't know if it was a guy or a girl but he was involved with someone all that time on the ship. He kept writing her to keep her around as a back up. I think that is great, the more pain and anguish she goes through the better.

In this case it was a good thing, but a lot of guys do the same thing to undeserving girls.

Chris, I'm confused about the chronology in your last post.

Were you roommates with this...um...female...while she was married to the guy in the Navy? Or did that whole drama thing happen before or after you were roomates?

Did you think she was a "whore cuntrag" while she was your roommate? If so why would you want to have a roommate you didn't like?

I don't know, maybe I'm just being a dumbass tonight. Normally I excel at being an asshole.

While everyone is drooling over Jen's smokin hot new photo, how many of you can actually brag about seeing the real deal in person? In other words, Jen's among the dozen or so Film-Tech members I've had the pleasure of meeting outside of cyberspace. Now if we could just get the guy-to-girl ratio here to change...
