But ... but ... but ... how can you say she's not important? She's famous, isn't she? And the things famous people do is vital news, worthy of my full attention! Much more so than those boring stories about people in foreign places - heck, some of THOSE people don't even speak English! (Imagine that!)
No, to be an informed citizen, I have to know every latest detail about the lives of Oprah, and Katie, and Paris, and Tom Cruise (you know, he seemed very sincere when he said psychology is bunk - I'm gonna throw my kid's meds away, 'cause they're just brainwashing him!)
You people should be ashamed of yourselves.

There are many fine, caring, down-to-earth celebrities out there, who live away from the Hollywood lifestyle, contribute to their communities and raise their families in relative peace. When it is time to work on or promote a film, they do it, but, otherwise, they fade into the background.
What I object to is these people famous for being famous. Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, the Olson twins, the Simpson sisters. There may be some talent spread among this group, but not all that much. They seem to spend their life partying, etc. Lindsay has been ripped by her producer and Bill Macy for wasting the time of the entire set by partying and being late.
But, as long as there are supermarket tabloids and gossip web sites, I'm afraid we'll just have to put up with them and ignore them as much as possible (and quietly laugh at most of what they do!)
