I only ran it a couple of times 20 years ago and haven't seen it since then so was surprised at the language in it (not being a prude, but there are many 'shits' and we had ages 4 and up) plus a couple of the kids got a bit scared. Sandlot I may have to research as I know nothing about it. Pharlap, although a good movie may send most of the kids to the nearest video game...may try The Man From Snowy River... We're going to go again next Saturday when the weather's better so keep the suggestions coming please. It's also a little rough around the edges but not nearly as bad as The Goonies. Neither would Back to the Future -- language. I tell ya, you can't go wrong with Mr. Bean. Optimum Releasing carries it in Australia as opposed to Disney Buena Vista almost everywhere else. Hulot's Holiday', the Jacques Tati film. If you can get past the black and white (beautifully shot, by the way) and the 'almost' silent nature of the movie (dialogue is limited to a few mumbles here and there), it is a movie in a class of its own. I don't know how successfully it will hold the small ones' attention, but it's worth a shot. There is absolutely NOTHING even remotely offensive about the movie for viewers of any age. All the gags are very sweet natured and many are laugh out loud funny. If it goes down well, you can follow it up another time with 'Mon Oncle' (in colour!). In this movie, Jacques Tati reprises his 'M. Hulot' character for another adventure. The positive is that it has a good, strong morality message. (Don't be selfish) But it's rather scary for young 'uns. Even if it is animated, a kid's parents getting turned into pigs and led to slaughter would be pretty unsettling!  |  IP: Logged
