Just edit it. You can put in a blurb "added on [date]" if you want to keep track of changes.

List updated. Lots of Regals and AMCs added. Still waiting to hear from Harkins and a couple of the smaller companies.

It's 74 minutes and after I qc'd the content I was very impressed with the show and how they recorded it. It goes back and forth with 2-D and 3-D segments. The concert is 3-D and the non-live content is 2-D with the words in 3-D. The girls will love it and it is doing very well for a City that hosted the sold out concert a month or so ago.

For the U2 movie? Very few. By the time of the release of the digital presentations of "U2 3D," nearly all of any theaters with a recent install will have already shown the "Hannah Montana" movie. The U2 list isn't too different from last autumn's "Beowulf" 3-D release, and even though the U2 movie includes a mix of Imax and digital presentations, I believe the all-digital Hannah Montana is on more screens.

Since it looks like this U2 discussion is morphing into Hannah Montana territory, I should mention that there's now a Hannah Montana page for anyone wishing to (continue) discuss(ing) it/her.

List updated again to reflect a few theaters that did open the movie on the 15th. These 15th openings were in a couple of markets with theaters not showing "Hannah Montana" or in venues with multiple 3D-equipped screens. The other hundreds of theaters that have booked "U2 3D," thanks to Miss Montana, have had to push their start back a week.

It also will open on the 22nd in numerous theaters throughout the United Kingdom and Ireland.

Don't forget to thank National Geographic for not releasing it to digital the same day as IMAX for a 1 week run (before Hannah). Or, better yet, releasing it in March after Hannah.

Lyle: I assume you're being sarcastic, but one can never quite tell with these Internet postings.

I tend to think that the Feb. 15 date was the original release date and that the Imax release plans developed once the movie was finished and those Imax screens were known to be available. I think it's bullshit that Buena Vista held over "Hannah Montana" for a third week knowing another company already had a film booked on those same 3-D screens, but a small company like National Geographic doesn't stand a chance going up against a powerhouse like Buena Vista.

I'm assuming the Mouse House showed their might be forcing NG to delay their release. But it's possible the two companies peacefully negotiated to revise their respective films' release plans. (I suspect the former, though.)

Most exhibitors probably don't care about the release-date change because "Hannah" performed well -- lots of tween asses in seats and lots of popcorn sold -- whereas I bet the U2 film won't do as well. The folks who will suffer from this are the die-hard U2 fans who reside in a market that didn't already screen the film in Imax and who now have to wait another week.

It was supposed to be released wide the same day. Strangely, IMAX theaters were given a 3 week exclusive run prior to digital 3D theaters.

Strange........Seems there's a little politics and back scratching between IMAX, the studio, and IMAX exhibitors.

I'm in agreement with Michael - total BULLSHIT on pushing back U2 a week!!! The "Hanna" excuse I could understand, based on those multiplexes WITH ONLY ONE DIGITAL HOUSE, that is, AND provided that "Hanna" was STILL doing mucho B.O. biz, which, apparently, it ISN'T!
Case in both points:
Here in the Vegas / Henderson area, "Hanna" opened at 7 theatres (see Michael's U2 list above - same theatres where "Hanna" is currently at).
And of those 7, 3 of them - Galaxy Cannery, Rave Town Square & Regal Fiesta Henderson (which have DLP projection in all of their houses - Rave supposedly can play Real D 3D in ALL of theirs as well) did play "Hanna" on multiple screens at their locations.
As of last friday (the 15), still at all 7 plexes, BUT ONLY ONE SCREEN NOW in regards to the above 3 mention.
Which proves to me that there's NO EXCUSE why they couldn't open U2 last friday (as originally scheduled).

Apparently U23D isn't going to have nearly as many 3D screens booked as the Hannah Montana show.

For instance, the Carmike theater in my town opened the Hannah Montana on all three of its RealD-equipped screens. U23D is opening on just one screen. It's opening in the theater's biggest house (which is also THX certified) so that's nice. But the Hannah Montana show will still be playing on another of the theater's 3D screens.
