A brief perusal of the Fandango reviews ... some are saying that there were a ton of songs from the concert not used in the movie. Maybe there were different length versions of the live show. Did it tour? I, being neither a "tween" girl nor the parent of one, have never heard of this Miley show, its concert, or the phenomenon of its insane popularity.
Oh, maybe it's all the "backstage" stuff they dropped in, ironically, to keep the action going. They had to drop some songs to do that.
I'm thinking Disney wanted this thing as short as possible, to maximize showtimes (we've got eight: first one at 8:40am, last one 11:50pm) for this "limited" run, while keeping it long enough not to induce riots from enraged parents who just spent their kids college tuition to keep 'em entertained for an hour.
