Along with the fade to black, the other thing in a lot of trailers is the transition flashes made from two white frames, I like watching them come and go from the platter... If you are having a bad night, get a bottle of rum or whatever your favorite spirit is and take a shot every time Chihuahua is said (or sung) in the trailer. Someone will say something funny, and then there will be a cut to an unrelated scene, with all of the characters laughing hysterically. It annoys the crap out of me. If a movie is so unfunny that the trailer needs to tell you it's funny, then the movie's crap. The first time I noticed this was HOLES. It gives me hope that he will NEVER make another movie again. Back then it at least had a small micron of creativity. Now it's just about the cussin' and the shootin' and the pimpin'. One guy was like a wacky usher, and then the other guy was like a straight man. The only specifics I remember was that there was one point where the usher was urging the straight man to get to the point, and he very quickly says, "Policy trailer, policy trailer!" It was awesome. Rap is now officially white people commercial corporate sell out lame fake music. I didn't like rap even when it tried to tell a true story of the streets. Now it is just a gimmick for rich bastards living in castles just outside Hollywood. I feel like lighting a fuse on a bomb. Any movie trailer these days throwing rap into it is automatically dead-assed lame. Automatic suckage. It deserves only to be bathed in infected vomit. That is how out of date rap has become. Yes. "Rap" is now officially old people music. Those young ones out there holding onto it only do so out of shame. Rap is lame. Rap is totally non-creative. It only talks and borrows off of the ideas of others. It only deserves to be forgotten. Rap is now just as embarrassing as what late 1980's spandex wearing hair bands are to heavy metal faithful. 100% embarrassing. I really hope this pisses off a lot of younger folks who love rap. Get a damned life already. Rap sucks infected biomedical waste. I agree with you that rap has become way too commercial. I do think there is rap out there that is still poetic and that often gets ignored because it isn't commercial enough. I am thinking of groups and artists like Jurassic 5, The Roots and Common. If you have seen Tropic Thunder, the character Alpa Chino, (this reminds of the talentless chart topping Flo Rida), is a great skewering of popular rap artists today!  |  IP: Logged Bobby Henderson "Ask me about Trajan." But still, I see rap today as being the same as "hair band metal" as it was in its ridiculously hilarious dying days in the early 1990s. It really is that bad. It's been a long time since the days rap really delivered some real "wake up" music via acts like N.W.A. and Public Enemy.
