Leo, have you ever seen the work that Tarantino has done for TV? I think it might offer a glimpse into the alternate reality you propose.

In particular, it's interesting to look at his episode from Season One of ER, "Motherhood." For all intents and purposes, he was a director-for-hire on that episode, which was written by someone else. There's a story about how John Wells, who ran the show, was watching dailies, and sent a note down to the set that he wanted more coverage on a particular scene. Tarantino protested, saying that the way he shot it was fine. The producer pulled Tarantino off to the side, and essentially said, "Look. This is Wells' show. You're working for him. If he wants more coverage, you shoot more coverage." Tarantino agreed, and shot the coverage.

If you look at that episode, it's very well-crafted, some of the best TV you'll ever see. But it lacks Tarantino's voice.

Tarantino's style applied to someone else's voice is just not the same. And I think that what he brings to the table as a writer is more important.

Also, this FASTER PUSSYCAT KILL KILL rumor has been around for months now. The first incarnation had Lindsay Lohan starring in it. I don't think there's any truth to it. Tarantino is known for saying "I'd love to make a movie where..." but I don't think he ever intends to actually do this stuff. He's talked about making a FRIDAY THE 13TH movie, a James Bond movie, a KILL BILL sequel, a KILL BILL prequel, etc. He's never gonna do any of it. I'm shocked he's making INGLORIOUS BASTARDS.

So apparently it's going to star whoever is the current teen phenom. Next week there'll be a rumor that Miley Cyrus is going to be in it. After that, the Jonas Brothers.

Exactly. He made some random comment, and the media's just running with it.

I totally agree with Mark - I'm even prepared to provide the cement mixer (free of charge).

This terrible 'woman' cannot sing, let alone act!

I wish she'd do mankind a favour and just disappear.

I thought DEATH PROOF already was Tarantino's attempt to remake FASTER, PUSSYCAT! Maybe it was supposed to be some kind of "hommage" to Russ Meyer - but every single frame of the original PUSSYCAT has more energy than two hours of Tarantino shooting women's feet. Just saw the old film again, and it is amazing in terms of cinematography and editing.

But who knows, maybe someone wants to see Britney Spears - there were people who preferred seeing Bridget Fonda in POINT OF NO RETURN to Anne Parillaud in the original LA FEMME NIKITA... [Smile]
