Special teams are 1/3 of a football team and the kick/return game gets completely removed. That's a big strength for some teams. Then, after so many overtimes, they start forcing teams to go for touchdowns, removing the rest of the special teams. It also handicaps teams with big deep threats. You can't get behind the secondary if you're at the 25. Also, they shut the clock off (other than play clock of course), so there goes another part of the game. It doesn't make any sense. I agree it is dramatic, but only because you're plopping teams in scoring position instead of making them work the field against a defense like they had to the rest of the game. I would rather they actually play football for another period instead of some new game they switch to. If you're going to play a game for 60 minutes, you should be able to play the same game a bit longer to decide a winner, don't you think?  |  IP: Logged Robert E. It's the second time they've done it in the last three meetings. As a Big Ten person I have to give major props to the Big 12 this year. I got to watch the last quarter of that game and it was a great game. Anyone see Michigan fall for the hook and ladder when they lost to Purdue on the last play? The Irish lost the longest game in school history too... what a Saturday.  |  IP: Logged
