I do not understand how this method was even conceived of in the first place. If you MUST do this, at least thread to the take up deck, then thread the projector and leave it be. Then when the show starts, turn on the motor. When the splice gets to where you need it, press start and then turn off the motor switch. Leader on the floor = evil.
