I didn't see Hellboy II: The Golden Army in the theater. I could have sworn it was 2.39:1 on Blu-ray. But looking it up again the movie is indeed 1.85:1. My bad.

It is possible to shoot in Super 35 and project at 1.85.
True most Super 35 films are projected at 2.35 but not all.

Most recent example of a 'flat' Super35 movie was The Spy Next Door.

Is this really a problem? COme on, guys. Maybe if they went from scope to flat, I would be complaining. I don't see how this is a bad thing.

If IMDB is to be believed, the sequels to the scope The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo are both flat.

Korrekt.
The reason was: The first (The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo) was made for the cinemas - the sequels was supposed to go right to TV.
But - because of the success of the first film they showed all thee on cinemas.

The second two must be a lot lighter on all of the raping, smoking and the vomiting (the only things I ever see when walking past the projector playing the first one) if they were meant for a TV audience.

Yeah, just dying to see how they clean it up for the American remake.

We're showing DragonTattoo right now and doing very well. The weird part is the audience is the little old broad brit lit twit shit audience. I guess that's the demo that reads books. So far not a single complaint or walkout. Though one teenager did sit out the first rape scene in the lobby.
