quote: Mike Blakesley What's really amazing to me is why women start smoking. Women are always so concerned about how they smell, why would they do something guaranteed to make them smell bad? I just don't get it.
They think it's the "in" thing to do. They're insecure and they see the popular girls smoking, so they feel a lot of pressure to do the same stupid shit.
Additionally, quite a few women continue to smoke because nicotine is reportedly an appetite suppressant. In our society it's more important to be thin than it is to be healthy. Working out at the gym can burn off lots of empty calories, but smoking and not eating is apparently easier.
I'm still trying to figure out why anyone would ever use methamphetamine. That highly addictive, dangerous drug rots out the pleasure centers of the brain, smoking it rots out the user's teeth and the drug radically speeds up the aging process. With as much importance as society places on being young and beautiful meth would seem to be the last thing anyone would want to try. Yet there's no shortage of idiots looking high and low for that crank. I suppose the users get into doing the drug just to fit in with the crowd. Idiots.
Back on topic, I've never been a big fan of cigars. I agree certain kinds of pipe tobacco smell good. The only cigar smoke I've encountered that actually smelled pleasant was smoke from a really expensive cigar.
To me, most cigar smoke smells a little bit like shit. Literally. I'm not kidding. My dad got into this cigar smoking kick for awhile back in the 1990s. He'd smoke while driving in this old Chevy Silverado my parents still own. The cigar smoke made the inside of that truck smell like turds. Thankfully the shit smell dissipated after he quit the cigar thing.
Personally, I'm not into smoking anything. I don't give one damn at all if the government keeps hiking sin taxes on cigarettes either. They can make it $100 per pack or just ban it for all I care. I can't get the image out of my head how my mother's father looked when he was dying of lung cancer. Near the end the doctors removed his left lung. Yeah. That made smoking look really cool to me. Not.
