If a movie grosses $300 million but it cost $275 million to make... that movie is a financial failure if compared to a movie that cost $30 million to make and raked in $70 million. No one will ever convince me the Best Picture of 1994 was Forrest Gump (Shawshank, Quiz Show and Kieslowski's Red easily top Gump), nor will any amount of talk change my mind that L.A. Confidential was, is and will always remain a better film than Titanic. But I can live with it, because in the end, the Oscars often help shine a spotlight on movies the general public might not otherwise give a chance without the Oscar nomination(s). At least they aren't the People's Choice Awards. Those things are truly an embarrassment.  |  IP: Logged
