(Great song, by the way... when done by Sinatra. By Irene Cara? Not so much.) So I ask you, Manny... which movie should Lucas and/or Spielberg have won previously for? Remember to compare directly to the winners of those years, and to compare only the directing. Fun fact: When Hitchcock ran his first assembled cut of Psycho for his team, many felt it was a disaster, including Hitch himself. He even briefly considered trimming it down in order to fit it in to a one-hour slot of Alfred Hitchcock Presents. But then he and his editor, George Tomasini, got right in to the heart of the matter, and then Bernard Hermann added his revolutionary score, and when he screened the final cut to the same group of people, with all the elements in their right place, everyone knew they had made a masterpiece.  |  IP: Logged Mark J. Last year was pretty good in that aspect. This year is pretty weak. Only The Descendants has done much business. I found the show to be slightly better than last year's. Billy Crystal wasn't exactly brilliant, but I prefer him anytime to hosts like Franco/Hathaway on speed pills. Had the same thought about Crystal's Christopher Walken resemblance, but in closeups his makeup also made me recall the character played by Bill Murray in ED WOOD. But I didn't know he was 62 actually. Angelina Jolie appeared a bit spooky to me, her arms looked like she was starving to death. Could somebody give her a double cheeseburger before wearing such a dress? I guess the whole leg business was to distract from her fragile looks. One Kodak theatre joke would have been enough for me.  |  IP: Logged
