They should license the Law & Order "BumpDum" sound instead. At least as recognizable as the Fox Fanfare and over quicker.

Because it's freakin' Star Wars, Mike, and it would be a cool thing to do. You yourself said in another thread that it would be cool if they did that so don't pretend you don't know why.

I know they probably won't do it because they don't understand the significance of it, nor the idea of going an extra step and doing something special that breaks the rules a little bit to have a bit of fun.

I do like your idea of sticking something in front of the movie manually. Even if just on opening night as a treat to the fans. It would have been easy to do in the DTS 35mm days too. Every trailer disk had the fanfare on it.
