Heya, I got a old crap Raven PAC1 automation box and am having some
trouble... after a while, it just thinks the failsafe tripped... i've checked all the
obvious, like connections, etc...
It also runs for a random amount of time before dying... but it definatly dies
because it thinks the failsafe has been tripped.

I've never seen a Raven automation. Wish I could help. How many screens are we talking about here? One? Eight? If it is only one or
two, perhaps we could just set you up with a better system, new or used?
There's got to be someone out there who has worked with these! If so, please
post.

The Raven Pac automation (also the EDLO or the Ballantyne SPA6) uses a
unijunction transistor timer and eventually they need to be replaced. Also the older
sensafe eventually developed shorts in it that caused intemitent shutdowns. They
now offer a proximity cue type with IR sensors That usually cures the problem. I
have installed hundreds of their automations and they seem to stand up well over
time

This should be easy. #1 Junk your Raven.
#2 What would you like your "new" system to be capable of doing?

: #1 Junk your Raven. Heh, always a good idea... but I was cheap and wanted to try to fix it.
Then
again, I could probably build a new unit from scratch in the amount of time it
would take for me t figure out how to fix this beast.

Failsafe.... that's about it.
Doing neat stuff like having start and stop buttons and
being able to play with quetape would be nice, but #1 is failsafe, and cut power to
the lamp. (or if I can get a zipper for a Simplex E7 have it trigger the zipper
instead of killing the lamp).

That'll be easy. Give me a couple of days and I will find you something basic,
cheap and reliable. I will contact you directly through email.
