I used to be a top feeder only, after the weekend, I think I am a bottom feeder.
One, like you say, it keeps the clear leader off the floor, entire print stays on the
platter and protected until start time. I find that bottom feeding gives me more
consistent loops, especially coming out of the intermittent.
Secondly, start projector motor then start projector when black leader hits. It was
especially nice to do it this way because the Coke trailer has an introduction, not
like with IDYKYDG that just had the whoosh sound. I admit that I left the start
projector motor on a few times but hey.
I thought your article on presentation was good. My booth manager would have
liked to see more reasons as to why something should have been done. Like,
doing this actually prevents this.
Thanks for your site and insight.

I don't understand what you were saying there.
Which theater do you work for?
Theatre: Tinseltown 20
Thanks for your suggestions.
By the way, we do have one projector that seems to generate a lot of dust from
the print, enough where you have to clean the gate, pressure bands, and a general
overall cleaning of the film path. Do you have any suggestions. The color of the
dust in this instance was purple and seems to match the SDDS sound band color.
Oh yea, these are Century projector heads.
#1 Check your intermittent shoe tension. It should be set as low as possible.
#2 Check the actual intermittent shoe for a burr or sharp cut on it. This can be
smoothed out with a fine grain emery cloth.
#3 Check the gate bands for damage of any kind. Replace if necessary.
#4 Check all the pad rollers. You should be able to put two layers of film (use an
old trailer) between the sprockets and the pad roller and the pad roller should still
spin freely. When you put three layers of film, there should be some resistance
when spinning the pad roller by hand.
Those are the main causes of print shedding. If none of those work let me know
as you are not very far from me. I will be glad to visit and find the problem.
