About six years ago, we replaced three Christie CH 10 Xenolite Consules with
Kneisly Kni-Tron Lamphouses and Xetron N3-X75195 Power Supplies. Since
that time, these bulky blue boxes have been in the booth, and though they are
somewhat out-of-the-way, I hate looking at them collecting dust. The owners
assured me that they were to be sold to our tech and removed. Turns out that the
tech did not offer as much for them as the owners thought they could get and, of
course, they stayed. Anybody out there use these things? Four years ago, I spoke
with a fellow at National Cinema Screen and he said that he knew of an old
projectionist in Buffalo, New York, who has one in his basement. Aside from that
he never serviced one anywhere in Upper New York State, nor around here in
Western Pennsylvania. These consules were bought brand new in 1978, and save
for one that is missing a sound head mounting bracket, are still in one piece. All
were working to optimum potential when they were removed during the summer
of 1993 in order to upgrade to a higher wattage. Each has about 4000-6000
hours on them. Anybody know their aproximate value? I've toyed with the idea of
purchasing one for myself and building my own screening room.

Their worth would be determined by whether they have the original reflector/bulb
components or have been upgraded with the STRONG conversion kit to improve
light output. As these consoles were originally designed, you usually only got 500
watts worth of light (poor design). The Strong conversion kit basically guts the
interior of the lamphouse and replaces it with the guts of a SUPER LUME-X. The
improvement in light output is tremendous! As they originally were equipped from
Christie, I'd say they are worth about $500. in my opinion. If they had been
upgraded with the Strong kit, I'd say they would be worth considerably more.
