Seattle Cinerama uses a brand new Christie Gearless projector as the primary machine with a Norelco AA-2 as the emergency backup projector. Dolby Digital sound. Booth equipment installed by American Cinema Equipment from Portland, Oregon.

I've heard a horror story about a AA Norelco at the "Cinerama" that was being moved by 4 guys. As you know they are incredibly heavy. Seems these guys were carrying the head and dropped it smashing one corner. I heard it was "the spare" that sat behind the screen. I wonder if this is the same "spare" or if it's the spare "spare"

So let's see, we have two projectors to choose from. The first being a Norelco AA2 and the second being a brand new Christie gearless. hmmmmmmm Wow, what a tough choice there. 
I wonder who made that decision.

Listen to this. At the Cinerama the chain of sound systems goes like this; Primary is the SDDS. If it fails the DTS takes over. If it fails the Dolby CP-500 kicks in. Don't you just love it.Vern

As of November 15th, the correct Cinerama (Century) projectors have been restored and re-installed at the Seattle Cinerama theater. Pictures have been posted on www.cinequip.com and then click on "Latest Projects" then click on "Cinerama".

Your information is a bit out of date. The current primary projector in the Seattle Cinerama is a Kinoton FP-75E. The Christie was a stop-gap measure. The AA-II is still there for back-up. When this theatre was still operated by the local Sterling Recreation Organization (SRO) circuit there was a pair of AA-II's, but in the later days also with a platter. When the circuit sold to Cineplex Odeon, one of the AA-II's (the one that got dropped and that nobody wants to talk about) was replaced with a new 35/70 Simplex XL.------------------
