A friend of mine said that he believed that the lens collar from a Cinemeccanica V8 35/70 is the same Inside and outside dimensions as those used on a Norelco AA. Has anyone ever tried this exchange? Does anyone have access to both to try it? I sure would appreciate knowing, as the Norelco collars are as scarce as the proverbial hen's teeth. If I could use the Cinemeccanica collars I'd be a happy camper.

I am almost sure they are not I will try to measure the norleco next week.
The norelco usually had two collars.
One was excentric and you rotated it to centre the lens for 35mm optical or 70/35mm mag (the images have different centres)
The inside of this collar held a standard 4" collar adapter to actually hold the lens
The V8 uses just the 4 adapter and the hole is boared off centre for the 70mm/mag version

Darn. I'd appreciate the look anyway. Do you (or anybody out there) know the exact offset distance between the optical/mag positions. WOuld that be in some Smpte info book somewhere?[This message has been edited by Greg Mueller (edited 08-09-1999).]

They are different
SMPTE has the info on the offset

Actually what I meant was to ask the difference between the horizontal center (from the edge of the film) of the picture on 35mm optical vs magnetic. SMPTE should have some standards on these film dimensions, yes?[This message has been edited by Greg Mueller (edited 08-09-1999).]
