For those of you that are booked with the movie Mumford, when you are building up the print, beware of the reel change between R5 and R6. The head of R6 is a fade in from black, there are VERY faint framelines but barely distinguishable, and no markings as to the 1st true frame of the picture. Also for those interrested its comming on Kodak Vision stock. All 3 digital tracks are on the print as well.

What I usually do on "fade to black" reel changes is go back and find the reel change cue. I then proceed to count 24 frames (using a frame counter if there are no visible frame lines) and cut there. On the head of the next reel, I commission a search for the number '3' on the leader. Once found, I proceed to count 3 feet back (48 frames) and cut there. After that I use all of my skill to splice the 2 pieces of film together. After that, I rest for a bit. But seriously, I have never had an out of frame splice or a sound jump by using this method.
