Does anybody else have as hard a time getting trailers in as I do?

I work at a 16 plex, and our trailer guy at Home Office wants us to put 5 trailers (not including ads) on every film, but we never can seem to get enough trailers in stock. It's a constant struggle, and we usually end up playing the same trailers on everything (like Girl, Interrupted! I am so sick of putting that on!).

When I try to order trailers myself, they usually never show up. And I HATE ordering from Technicolor because they always give me the third degree about what specific films I'm going to put them on. What, I can't just have a nice pile of scope and flat in stock to use when I need them?!

Paramount seems to have their act together, though. They always send me tons of whatever is available. Apparently, they're the only studio that understands that film trailers are their best advertising tool. Better than TV, cause in the movie theatre, they have the customers' undivided attentions.

Every studio should automatically send out whatever they have. Remember, I can't put it on if I don't have it!

Ditto on everything Erika just said. Paramount is THE studio in my book! Whenever those stingy studios don't send in the trailers that are "supposed" to be on...on goes a Paramount!

Why? Because I HAVE THEM and Paramount is ALWAYS there to supply us with trailers with a nice, quick and effortless phone call. Customer relations there is fantastic. Even the booker will ensure promotional items are sent if you ask!

What I can't stand is when a certain trailer is supposed to play with a certain feature and they send it in the afternoon the movie has already opened. Excuse me??? The print is built, screened, perfect and that can just wait until next Wednesday's trailer changes damnit! If the studios don't care enough to get the trailers in on Wednesday's for Friday openings, why should we care to go through the extra work to take off another studio's trailer who actually sent it to us in a timely manner?

Speaking of "timely manner", that Toy Story 2 reel 5 is supposed to be on screen by the first show Thursday. Where is it guys???

I usualy dont have any trouble as a rule as most times we usualy get what is needed in relation to the number of screens and if the movie is a huge money maker then they usualy send extra trls.Here in oz the booker in head office is the one who orders the trls, if any more are required to forfill the trl list for that location he or she will try and obtain more if none are available then ether it is replaced by something else or missed out

I typically have better luck getting trailers from NSS than Technicolor (even though NSS is owner by Technicolor, go figure...) Fox automatically ships us 5 flat and 5 scope of whatever they release...

My personal philosophy is, if I don't have the trailer, It won't get played... I have far too many other things to do than make sure Miramax has the trailer they want (for a movie we will never play) on screen when they never bother to send it...

Jim,

Do you send any of your old trailers back to the studios (primarily Fox)? The reason I ask is because since I started sending trailers back to Fox they have been very good about supplying me with more trailers.

I send all of my old trailers to our subrun house in Omaha. The only ones we sent back to Fox were the verson A of Star Wars..

Fox is usually good about keeping us supplied.
