OK, whoever approved of the new reel design for ETS should be shot.Heres the deal. Standard core has 4 holes. Well, the reel also has 4 holes, opposite of the core holes.
Guess who will be getting out the drill bit when it comes time to breakdown Magnolia.

Sounds like you're talking about the new "New Line" reels! Yes, they suck. I think there's a thread floating around here somewhere about them in regards to "Austin Powers 2". Anyway, a quick trick to breaking them down with an AW3 (not the best way, but it works) is to unscrew the spindle shaft on the MUT and extend it out about 1/4 inch, then retighten. That way you can situate the reel while still having the holding clip in place.The ideal method is to go to the hardware store and purchase a 3/4 inch bolt of the same size as the drive pin on the MUT and use it instead. That way it doesn't have to go through the reel.

The "Austin Powers" New Line reels fit on my AW3 MUTs without any kind of modification or effort.

I built a print of "Magnolia" a couple of nights ago, and it was a very frustrating experience. Most of the reels would not fit on either the MUT or the rewind bench. The center holes were too small and the reels would not fit on the spindles. The drive pin wasn't a problem, ironically, the holes for the drive pin matched up properly. But I have never had so much trouble getting a spindle through a reel before. It was insane.
