One of our fifteen projectors at the Cinemark that I work at has a problem with the format changeover. When you need to change lenses and you set the switches to the correct format, push end and nothing happens. You can hear the relay buzz, but the turret doesn't move. Is this a relay problem?
We are running two prints in that house and they are flat and scope. Like an idiot tonight I tried to changeover the format between shows and it didn't work so I manually changed the lens totally forgetting the aperture and the masking. So of course when I started it I looked like an incompetent jerk. How can I fix this problem?(The projector, not my incompetency)

You might want to check the set screw on the friction wheel that turns your turret. If your projector's are Simplex, look at the lower edge of the turret toward the operator side. There should be a small motor with a shaft running to a small disk that has two rubber tire-like things on it. These rubber rings press against the side of the turret disk and are what actually turn the turret. By peeling them back a little, you should find a hole in the motor disk. At the bottom of this is a set screw which holds the small disk to the motor shaft. Hope this helps.

Josh, since you said you heard the relay's "buzzing" I would say that the relay's are shot. What you can do is to swap them out with a projector that you know is working properly. I would try replacing them one at a time. I can't remeber off the top of my head which relay conrols which function.
