Help! I got my home setup going yesterday for a few minutes until I managed to break a "governor link" (little metal pieces that hold the governor weights to the vertical shaft in a Super Simplex projector). I actually have spares of these parts, but replacing them appears to require removing the vertical drive shaft, which is just about the most difficult part of this machine to get to.

If anyone could provide detailed instructions how how to remove the vertical drive shaft from a Super Simplex, I would be most appreciative! I have just about every other part of this machine on the floor, except for that vertical shaft; I can't figure out how to remove it without bending it.

Try it without the governor wts - I don't think you need them.

Try it without the weights - I am not using
them.

Sometimes you can loosen the screws on the drive gear at the base of the verticle shaft and rmove the top plate of the head the verticle shaft will lift up.
Sometimes they get gualled in the bushing and won't budge so remove the shutter bracket
