How can one measure the FLs on the screen using non professional tools. Can it be done, with say, a light meter for a camera? Just curious.

Simply the awnser is yes and no
You can balance the distribution of light with any meter but to get the actual quantity of light you need a meter with a photvoltoptic response that accounts for the flicker of the shutter
Spectra Cine makes the cheapest upt o the Minolta LS100 at the top or the CCD method useing the UltraStereo Laptop method
