Ky is thinking of going to ShoWest Monday for the Idependent Film Seminar. I think I will go for Tuesday/Wednesday for the Trade-Show.

What do you know about cheap hotels around Bally's? We won't be staying at the Paris.

I will be there as well. Probably the trade show only unless i get lucky and get the full ride this year <grin>... I agree we gotta have some kind of FT get together once there.. As it gets closer we should decide when and where to meet, etc...

As far as cheap hotels go, if you don't mind taking a shuttle bus to the convention center, the Excalibur usually has very good rates. I believe the last time I stayed there it was around $60. They also have the customary $5 prime rib dinner and great breakfast

I plan to arrive early Monday afternoon, and leave Friday morning. I'll be participating in the Kodak seminar, the Inter-Society meeting and the SMPTE meetings on Projection Technology (P3) and Digital Cinema (DC28). As usual, I'll also be visiting the trade show floor as much as possible.

Unfortunately I am missing it this year. I am going to have my head and the rest of me up in the rafters for a few weeks installing some new lighting and sound system. Trying to get ready to do some live shows. But I do agree that what this world needs is an annual Film Tech convention and beer fest. And DEFINATELY trash at least one SDDS.

Just talked to the Show West folks in LA. They report that registration is closed and the only tickets available will be available on March 5 in Las Vegas.

The "Sold Out" is only for the NATO conference. There is no limit for those who want only to go to the trade show. If this is your only interest, then Y'all come!!

The only way your going to get Charlie Wolk to provide that girl is to Give him All of your spare parts in your warehouse! Then maybe he'll provide her. I'm sure Charlie isnt going to provide her for Free!

I will be at ShoWest on Tuesday & Wednesday March 7th & 8th. If you are interested in going out for a beer on Tuesday night drop me a note at the ACE audio visual booth at the trade show. I'll be staying at the Bourbon Street.

YES, I will definately be attending SHOWEST. You remember me... that serious looking character in those Kodak ScreenCheck ads! Bring your Box Office issues because I'll be signing autographs for all of my Film-Tech Forum "fans"!! (Just kidding)
Seriously though, I work with John Pytlak here at Kodak, and I will be joining him at SHOWEST, as I have for the past few years. I think it would be great if we did get together somehow.
Looking forward to meeting as many of you as I can.
PS: There is no goatee,(never was!).

Hello Film-Techians, as part of the shameless self promotion of www.bigscreenbiz.com a place where the film industry gets together (much like Film-Tech) for forums, auction, and classified ads; I will be attending Show West and I'll be bringing a 500.00 bill to buy drinks and host an impromptu affair at a bar close by the convention. It's so unplanned that at the moment we don't have a location! Check in at our web site and I will also post the invite here. Or send me an e-mail and I'll be sure to inform you. Now I realize that there will other film types who may attend who are not of the special constitution of tech-ofiles... but look... the drinks will be free which is a good thing..free is good...and you could arrange a sort of sub group to meet in the corner..maybe it will even be a dark corner! All good natured kidding aside; I hope to meet each or any of you who attend Show West and buy you a beverege of your choice.. Mike

Mark DeLettera and I will be wearing our Kodak "ScreenCheck Experience" polo shirts most of the week --- the ones with the multicolored star and Kodak logo. Remember, Mark does NOT have a digital goatee, and I look years younger than my picture in "Film Notes for Reel People".

We arrive Monday afternoon. We plan to spend lots of time visiting friends and seeing what's new on the trade floor, and also attending the digital projection demonstrations and the digital cinema panel discussions. Of course we'll be at the Kodak sponsored seminar "It's More Than a Movie Theatre" on Wednesday morning at Bally's Jubilee Theatre, although unlike last year, the two of us are not directly involved in the presentation.

We look forward to seeing other Film-Tech folks at the show. Between events, I'll be checking Film-Tech forum on my laptop next week for any updates on impromptu meetings at ShoWest. Hope you all have a safe and enjoyable trip to Vegas.

Just booked a room at the Sahara from a service I use that fills Vegas hotels when they have space. We got our room for $35/night. The phone number is 800-752-9834. Bourbon Street (right across from Bally's) is usually between $40-50/night and is 702-737-7200. Come on down........

Drinks? FilmGuard and branchwater anyone?
