Last Friday I went to visit the Valley View 24 Cinemark theater that is about twenty minutes from our theater in Macedonia. I heard that they had a TI digital projector that Disney paid for. I finally had the time to see it, so I figured what the heck. I wanted to see what all the buzz was about.I was actually very impressed by what I saw on the screen. They were playing Mission To Mars on it. It was in between shows so the booth manager showed me all the ins and outs of it. He said that they had only had one thing on it burn out, it was some kind of cable box. He said they called TI and described the problem and they sent them a new one next day air.
The best part about it was that the picture was so steady and you can fast forward, rewind, pause and all that great stuff you can't do with film. Although it still has its set backs. He said that it takes up to ten hours to download from a computer that the tech brings with him. He also told me that the tech said that he doesn't see digital projection making it for quite some time. By the way TI won't even let them focus the lens, they have to call a tech to do it!
The one thing I couldn't understand was how the prism works. Can anyone better describe this to me. I am clueless. Thanks

The prism is for converging the 3 images from the 3 seperate chips one for each colour
The prism is to correct for the convergance fringing problems that a 3 lens unit would have

Wow! just like my home theater, i to have a video projector and i can also make slow motion, zoom in and out, freeze etc. i say who needs theaters anymore??? lets all stay home and wacth the movies

Perry, They can do all the signing they want to but they just bought the worst TV manufacturer in the world. Leave it to them....... you know that Ultramittant and all@^%$!!!
