Another FilmGuard question for Brad Miller. Brad, I recieved today a shipment of cleaning media and one of the boxes I ordered contained green media that was very smooth in comparison to the white media. What type of media do you recomend to use? Does it make any difference? Should I test it out? Thanks.

My name is not Brad (I might change it, though), but I can answer your question. The green media is sort of a "deluxe" media. To be honest, there really isn't anything special about it other than you can probably clean 3 or 4 movies with one set of pads. I recommend cutting each pad up into thirds. Each third will easilly clean a 2+ hour movie. I usually cut them in half and save them for the long movies (like any Kevin Costner flick).As to the actual cleaning, it really doesn't seem to matter. They both work as you would expect them to. Neither does a "better job".

I think I'll just make Joe my new spokesperson. Yes, the media doesn't really matter that much. The green media is made by Kelmar and is their "high end" (and priced accordingly) and the white "bricked" media is Kelmar's low end (not priced accordingly...they're real proud of it) media. Neumade makes a similar media to the green media, but without that anti-stat coating of the green media. All work well with FilmGuard, but I prefer the white Neumade *or* the green Kelmar as my picks for performance. It's really a tossup between those two.
