Anyone using one of these? We're about to add a couple of screens and I'd be interested to get any feedback. We've currently got FP30's in the other screens.

We have couple running over here, and in future the E versions will replace the maltese cross versions, I assume. Making precise mechanics gets expensive and requires skills, which noone has apprenticed in recent years.
So far comments have been very positive "rock steady like a slide" to "stability goes after some time, to electronic failiures, which led to down time in rare cases. These comments mainly from operators which were critical against electronics.
I think, they work pretty, and problems mainly rely to unskilled (in field of electronics) service techs, and lack of daily maintainance. after some time you will know about possible bucks, and find easy workarounds.

Most problems are related to poor service or poor initial design. The more complicated the possiblity of errors on both parties

We began using the FP30-E in February and the picture is indeed steady as a slide. We had some problems with the picture jumping up and down, but that was easily fixed by tighten the strap inside the projector.

The issue of gate tension is one of my few beefs with kinoton
The plastic bands and skates are expensive and have a relitvly short life
The older melamine bands were far better especially the velvet lined ones

I have used only the F.P 30 and more recently the F.P 50D.I found that the F.P50D has a more rock steady picture than the F.P 30.Now don't get me wrong all Kinotons have steady images but I have found that the F.P50D is that little better so may be you should consider installing the F.P 50D,as for gate bands I have found the wear on these exceptable on the F.P30 I could get up to 8 months out of them by reversing them and the gate also 8 months use as for the F.P5OD time will tell as they have only been in use for a short time.Kinotons need very little gate pressure even with green prints,I rarely have to ajust the tension.------------------
