Dear All,I have a couple of Bauer U3 in operation and was wondering if anyone knew of a retro fit baement reader (Red led), in prepartaion for cyan soundtracks.
I have spoken to Kinoton and they do not supply any such item.
Any contacts would be greatly appreciated

I believe that a laser lens is available for it
Some of the U2's were converted to laser using a cinemecanica style with I beleive a bushing machined around it?
Rayathon makes the ones for Ernaman and they could probably be adapted
The other option is a jax light and just convert the socket to match it

I use laser diodes with a tiny lathed adaptor ring. It is identical to Italien projectors, as they used a simelar dimension slit lens. The results are pretty good, channel seperation is much better than with the original optical lens.
I use standard industry type laser diodes with slit converter. Results are within +/- 1.5 dB over width, frequency response reaches the 14 kHz on black and white pink noise. (Color film's limit is 12.5 kHz)
The nice thing about it, the original look of the projector is kept.
The PS is simple, the diode assy. can be fed from the 6V threading lamp transformer, feeding a bridge rectifier and 2200 MFD.

Do you mount the laser diode on the back of the slit lens? similar to the laser lens
Also how is the eveness of the illuminations
One of the problems with the Rayethons is that the illumination looks a bit like a bell curve
