We are in the process of enlarging our screen. We have the world's smallest screen for a single screen house, 12' x 25'4". I was thinking of moving the screen off the stage by a few feet and getting it to be about 14' x 32'9". I addition to having to get new lenses, our ORC 1600 lamps aren't gonna make it. So my question is How bad are the Christie H40 Lamphouses and rectifiers? I have heard conflicting opinions to they're absolutely terrible to they're just bad. Yes, I would love better ones. But how to you justify a pair for a dual projector booth that only runs that way once a month?

It should be ok. I never had any real problems with the rectifier. Make sure the lamphouse blowers are cleaned and lubed.

The best thing about installing used Christie lamphouses is that for a fraction of "new" you can buy the lamphouse upgrade kit from them and have the same performance as a brand new Christie lamphouse. You literally change out the entire guts for the new style. Their rectifiers are among the best made. Ripple and inrush figures are always within bulm manufacturers limits. If the supplys are real old you might want to change out the main filter caps though.
