Hi everyone

I've just spent the last 15 minutes reading Joe's latest reviews on TES, Kelmar make up table and the new Film-Tech Media pads.

Joe, you've outdone yourself. This will be the benchmark to which you now have to live up to.

Apart from being incredibly informative (if TES ever open up a branch here, I'm leaving!) this one was incredibly funny also. So funny, I went back and read it all again minus the tears running down my eyes (partly from laughter, partly from feeling SOOOoooooooo sorry for you guys in the good ol' USA having to deal with all the crap TES makes you put up with). Perhaps someone from the major studios who has just read your review (yes, we know you're there) will go..."Hang on a second...there's incompetence at TES? I simply MUST look into this as we are losing money because of it".

Maybe... I guess you guys can only hope that SOMEONE out there is in the position to make a change.

Anyway, Joe has obviously put a LOT of time into this one and if you've not yet read it do so immediately. He has performed tests WAY beyond the call of duty (when you've read the one on the media cleaners, you'll have to agree...eeeyyyoooo!!!...)

Keep it up Joe and thanks again.

Yes, this month's reviews are the best yet. The TES thing practically had me rolling on the floor with laughter.

I was surprised that Joe wasn't all that fond of the Kelmar rewind bench. I've become really, really, fond of these things lately. Of course, this is partly because I've spent way too much time working with rewind benches like the one below, so it's nice to move up to the 1990s version from the 1950s version...

Joe kelmar makes a version of that table with a motor drive at each end so you can go forward and backwards
My big beef with them is the circuit design it is possible when a relay fails to short out the powersupply

hey Scott... theres a set of those Wolk rewinds just like those in the Phoenix booth... only they are turned the other way around so the motor and pulleys arent in your face

I just read the reviews you guys are talking about and they are pretty cool, I guess. I didn't laugh much. Whoever wrote them is a moron. Oh wait.....

Actually, in Scott's pic, the middle splicer is the CIR, the one on the left is the crappy rip-off (a crappy rip-off of an already crappy product! Must be a throw-away item).

I hadn't intended this to be a "guess the splicer" contest, but for what it's worth: the big splicer is a Neumade, the one to the left of it is a 35mm CIR, and the one to the left of that is a 16mm CIR. To the left of _that_ is a 1930s-vintage Neumade sync block.

Check out the funky red round thing in the upper right corner--that's a "Neumade Safety Leader Box" from the '30s; it's a fireproof container for storing extra (nitrate) leader.

Great review of Yech-nicolor! Boy what a difference between them and ETS.
We have an ETS depot in Renton, Wash which is only 50 miles north of me. ETS has people that actually care! The place is actually clean and well run. They seem to go out of their way to help us. I can't say enough about ETS, but Technicolor, though, I think you summed it up best, Joe.

Funny. We have a Economy splicer that looks just like that 35mm CIR. I can say with confidence though it doesn't suffer any of the same problems as the CIR.
