I'm single and I work in a movie theatre, therefor I work every holiday. Who else is out there tonight and what are your plans.I know some of you are from other countries and don't give a rip. I'm sure missing Victoria Day is a hardship.
We used to stand on the roof of the Greenwood and watch the fireworks at Fiddlers Green.
Tonight I bought the Fantastic Five and will be shooting them off from my parking lot after the films have let out. In California there are more legal fireworks than in Colorado. I don't think I have anything that flies, I think they are just big fountains.

They banned ALL fireworks this year in Colorado because of those fires we had a few weeks back. I guess they figure we'll set the state on fire again. I used to start movies late at Greenwood just so I could watch the fireworks. We didn't have timers, so I would have to climb down and go start the movie, and then climb back up.I also remember sharing the same walkie frequency with Fiddler's Green.

I've worked EVERY holiday for the last year! Christmas, Thanksgiving, New Year, EVERYTHING! Mostly, I don't care but I think I've done more than MY share of holidays for the next year!I got to watch the fireworks from the back fire escape. It's a small consolation, but cool none the less.
Fireworks? Out here in the sticks, it's GUNFIRE! We just get out the shotgun and let 'er rip! Most people get fireworks too. There aren't enough cops to arrest everybody. I've seen people lighting off roman candles right in front of the cops and they just applaud.

If fireworks were banned in Colorado, there was a nice illegal half hour long show that went on tonight in Denver. Also, I know of at least 3 firework stands on very major roads that have been open for the last week.

Brad,What they sold in those stands you would feel ripped off if you bought. They just make it illegal to sell anything that flies or shoots out sparks. So basicaly you are left with things that smoke and whistle.
The professional shows are allowed in Colorado.

Ian, Victoria Day in Canada is commonly known as "May two-four" for obvious reasons and usually precedes your Memorial Day by a week. July 1 is our birthday (Monday the 2nd made for long weekend). Between that and all the Americans vacationing, this weekend is NUTS every year. It's cool if you're back at a cottage, with the Canucks lighting fireworks off on the 1st, then another show courtesy the Yanks on the 4th. I even have an old welcome to the drive-in trailer welcoming "our American vacationers" or some such thing that must've been played on such holidays.------------------

Well we get the really big bang here at Ontario Place as for 4 weeks we host the Benson and Hedges Symphony of fire.
2 Barges are anchored ofshore of the park and diffent countries compete with a 25min fireworks show syncronised to music.
The harbour is closed as all are comercial aircraft flight plans due to the heigth some of the bombs are fired up toThey hold it on Wed and Sat nights and so far Austrialia's show has been the best last sat. Tonight is Spain who was the winner last year and Sat is the last night where all countries jointly stage one big bang of a show before the winner is anounced.
I just walk out the booth and sit on the ramp well above the crowd with an excellent view

You guys must get a real treat watching all the great displays you wrote about. I get to see some fireworks too where I work and they shoot them off year 'round. See, our theater is only about 1/2 mile from the Zambelli fireworks factory and testing ground in New Castle, Pennsylvania. Some of you may be familiar with their work. They did the 100th celebration for the Statue of Liberty in 1986, Pittsburgh's yearly July 4th bash, many of the fireworks after sporting events accross the country, and so on. Now all this might sound nice, but I was working the booth the night their ware house "mysteriously" exploded. You think the depth charges in "U-571" shook the boat . . .
