Scott Greene asked me to post this job opening here. It is a job where they are needing a projectionist to travel solid for a 3 1/2 month period.

Technical Director/Projectionist - ( Events and Promotions )
Location: Multiple Locations
Job Number: 00-255

Essential Duties:

* Attend a weeklong training conference in St. Louis, MO.
* Commit to travel for approximately 14 weeks to execute the program on various college campuses throughout the United States (and Canada.)
* Responsible for the set up, execution, and breakdown of the event's film screening on campus, including all aspects of film makeup, projection, running the digital sound system and processor, and working with a full theatre platter system
* Manage and conduct daily event operations, including but not limited to the following:
* Conduct pre-event meetings with on-campus sponsors on the day prior to the official event date
* Set up the event equipment on the day prior to the official event date
* Complete event display setup and breakdown at outdoor locations (indoor film screening locations when necessary)
* Conduct event promotion activities on campus as directed in training session
* Distribute premium items as directed in training session
* Manage product and premium inventory throughout the duration of the tour.
* Trouble-shoot challenges during the course of the tour.
* Participate in an exit interview with Account Manager upon program completion.

Qualification Requirements

* College degree and/or promotional event experience
* Expertise in running Christie projector, Xenon console model SCL, DTS-6 digital theatre sound system and Dolby CP65 cinema processor.
* Expertise making up and breaking down film for platter system.
* Strong organization skills
* Outgoing personality
* Ability to work in a team atmosphere
* Willingness to travel for an extended period of time
* Motivated
* Proactive
* Goal Oriented
* Valid US Driver's License and clean driving record
* Ability to perform physical labor activities on a daily basis

Education and/or Experience:

College degree and/or promotional event experience

If they plan to come to several areas in canada we still require licences to operate a projector in several locations
Ontario for one

Massachusetts and, I belive, New York, require projectionist licensing as well. There may be other states/provinces that also require this. Massachusetts also has fairly strict standards for projection booth construction (including portable booth construction).

Toronto is the provincial capitol of Ontario and has licensing
Also most of the Colleges and University's have Iatse contrats as well

Not bad, but what is the pay/benefits?

Why do you need a college degree to do this? Secondly, who would be the employer? It was a site for student advantage.

Doesn't the IA control most of the licensing in these areas? And if you have an IA traveling card, wouldn't that be considered a type of licensing?

IA does not control licensing but each provicincial theatres branch who do censoring and theatre inspection
A traveling card is not a license even in the few remaining US areas that have state licensing

Unfortunately New York does not require licensing. Even if it was a "joke" test it would keep quite a few morons out of the booths. Now only if the union had more power...

Yes, New York doesn't require licensing. Connecticut also dropped it last year.
