I am currently running Christie SLC-30 consoles, and have developed a problem over the weekend. While in the middle of a show, the lamp will shut off and turn back on in about 1-2 seconds. The projector and sound system continues running and doesn't stop during this. I checked the air flow switches for the fan on top of the reflector, and also the roof exhaust fan. I have also checked the door switches, and all are functioning properly. Please Help.

How old is your bulb? Everytime I have run across this problem, it has been the bulb. Try replacing it and see what happens.

We had a similar situation on our SLC-70. Apparently the 3-phase wiring coming off the circuit breaker on the console was arcing. Our tech replaced the connector and added some electrical tape and it hasn't happened since. Waiting on new breaker to replace old one. Wierd thing is, breaker didn't trip.

Does the READY light stay on, go out completely or does it glow very dimly?

I ran into this problem a few months ago. Could be the same problem for you. This happened at a fairly new complex. Everything worked fine until it stormed pretty bad one night. The wind was strong enough to blow the dampers shut in the duct work. That is, the wind was stronger than the under rated exhuast fans that were on the roof. When the dampers shut, it shut off the Air-Flow safety switch on the exhaust of the console.Rick

A momentary back-draft in the exhaust system does sound like a likely cause, as it would shut off the lamp, and the lamp would restart once the exhaust was flowing correctly again.Does it only happen when the winds are high? Maybe a windscreen on the exhaust vent would prevent backdrafts.

I changed the bulb in this machine and still the same problem. The green ready light glows as bright on this machine as all of the others. I think my next step is going to be changing the failsafe switch on the roof exhaust fan.

There's a "hiden" airflow switch in Christie consoles. It's the one that blows on the bulb. It's unerneath the blower. It's got a vane on it and it has to be DOWN to be activated. It's spring loaded. That's the one that I had to drive all that way to fix.Usually, I find that if the READY light glows brightly, it's in the bulb and associated areas. If it goes OUT all together, it's likely to be a interlock switch and if it glows dimly, it's likely to be a diode, or associated area.
I tend to agree with the other guys. Maybe there's a backdraft down the stack, or a flaky interlock switch.
