Central? I have. I am wondering if you
can make your own battlebot using parts
and components from various brands of
soundheads,projector heads,platters,etc.

What would you use for a weapon? a spinning shutter blade? (or a double shutter?!?) Or you could "knock" them to death with a bad intermittent. Perhaps you could just create an oil slick by using a simplex with bad door seals.
P.S. light-weight or heavy-weight?

It could wrap its opponents in polyester film, rendering them immobile. Perhaps a bit of nitrate to liven things up...

The base for mine would be from a Norelco AA-2. It weighs 280 lbs, and is solid cast iron. It would run everything right off the stage. No need for flame throwers or rotating saw blades here. The brute force and well aged super hard cast iron is all that is needed. The only drawback would be the highly complex inertia conbtrol system it would need to be able to turn on a dime.

DP70 vs. DLP ? (70 mm Film vs. Digital Cinema, viewed at a distance of 60 feet from a 30 x 66 foot screen.)
I would bet on the 45 year old projection technology that you can still buy (used) today at less than 1/20 the cost!

It would be hard for _anything_ to compete with a Norelco, except perhaps one of the big old Bauer 35/70s (with the odd square magazines).
Simplex/Century/etc. would be no competition, let alone DLP.

Its the well aged cast iron thats the main thing here. There is not much that can destroy it. The rotating saw from another Battlebot might cause a few sparks but that would be the teeth comming off of the saw! The base would of course be driven by the 3 phase 20 HP Imax drive motor for instant stopping and starting. Integrating the International Space Station Gyros would provide the ultimate in stability. The shear weight would simply crush the other Battlebots. No contest!

How about a pair of Kalee 21's on the their original "Elephant feet base", having a duel with DLP Projectors, now that's what you call a real heavy weight!

What about two of those monster RCA/Brenkert pedestals (with the disconnect switch and carbon storage shelf?) Arrange them like feet, making them walk forward. Put a motor/generator set on top of each foot to provide the mechanical and electrical power. Anything that gets stepped on with both feet gets cooked with 70 volts at 400 amps.Top it off with that ulgy Soviet knock-off of a AA-II. (The real AA-II, while certainly heavy, still looks too elegant.) Add extensions to the sprocket shafts and put on saws with diamond-tipped teeth.

The pojector part that I'd use in a Battlebot would be the POWER SUPPLY!!!Put the bare ends of the output leads on the end of an arm and ram them into the opponent's robot. If you hit anything critical, 150 amps could make the opponent practically burst into flames. Even if you didn't hit anything it'd still make a pretty good fireworks show!
Now, how to we get power to the thing? Anybody got a spare generator lying around?

No, I'm sure they wouldn't let the thing in even if you could make it work without a cable. The damn thing would be just too damn DEADLY! Just imagine 150 amps going through the body of the person who went into the ring to retrieve their dead battlbot!Still... If you could get enough battery power you might be able to use an igniter circuit and generate enough voltage (vs. the power supply's current) to create an electrical field to disrupt the opponent's radio receiver. (Igniters do that to sound systems all the time) Problem there is hardening YOUR receiver against your own attack!

Yeah, get some big capacitors! You can "own" a farad... did anyone go to school in the days when they told you that a one farad cap would fill a room? Guess they were wrong.They also taught us that a regular phone line would never allow anything faster than 2400 baud (using FSK.) Guess they were wrong about that, too.

A number of years ago I got my hands on a bunch of old mainframes that were being junked. These overbuilt monsters had enormous banks of soda-can sized electrolytic capacitors in the power supplies. I stripped all of them out, and wired them all together -- 36 total, I think -- in parallel to make a 1.2F capacitor.Never got the nerve to try it out though.
