It took me months to realize that the "wake up" state on our CP500 is projector 1. Is there any way I can make it select projector 2? Secondly, what exactly is the purpose of the field bulletin concerning changeovers in the manuals section of this site? Any advice would be helpful.

An easy way to get around that is to assign all of the formats that you use (01,04,05,10) to projector 2. Look in the manual under custom formating for instructions.
Why do you want projector 2?

You can select which projector it wakes up in by moving the wake-up state jumper on the cat. 661 optical preamp card. Be sure to kill the amplifiers as well as the CP-500 before pulling out the card, or you'll send a big thump through the system as this card is still "live" even with the bypass button pushed. As to the field bulletin, it seems that by performing this mod, you are disabling the CP-500 software from asserting any changeover commands, and therefore only accept a changeover command from the automation, switch, relay, or what have you. I've never encountered this problem as all of our CP-500 equipped theatres use platters. Personally, I am a big believer in the old saying " If it aint broke, don't fix it!" So if you have'nt been experiencing random sound changeovers, I wouldn't worry about it too much. But if you are, and you have the necessary experience, it seems like a simple mod to do.

Jon, my reasoning for wanting projector 2 is that we don't have any automation. We usually run projector one and hit the changeover button to end the show. The owner is a stubborn old man and he would never remember to hit the button everyday when he turns the sound system on. Rick, Thank You! I will try to move the jumper tomorrow. Travis

Travis, Something just occurred to me. If you perform the mod outlined in the field bulletin, it may ignore commands from that jumper and only look for changeover cues from the button, and therefore wake up wherever it was when turned off. Bottom line, I guess is, if you don't have the problem, don't worry about it and try the jumper.
