Hi folks---does anyone have any experience using Lighting Technologies International(LTI) brand xenon bulbs? They're usually sold for below the price of ORC bulbs which makes me nervous. Are they any good or are they a ticking bomb? thanks! john

They seem to be ok. They come in a box that says Strong/LTI on it.Be aware that on the 4000 watt bulbs the metal ends are a bit smaller so you have to raise the support yoke about an eighth of an inch for proper alignment.

I just had the only remaining LTI die tonight, resulting in a energency call. It turned black and went "Pbpthbpthbthp!" with 1647 hours total running time. Luckly, our customers waited around for me to arrive, and we did not lose the show.

Your projectionists can't change bulbs?You must have some nice crowds, if I'm late starting by a minute due to a blown belt on start-up people start to whine.

Is there any hope they could be properly trained to safely replace a lamp? Will you or someone else capable of changing the lamp always be able to get there in time to not lose shows? Blondes have more fun (when they can safely replace a lamp), and the audience will appreciate minimum delay in getting back on screen.

John, I am a "Safety First" type of a person. There are very few people I feel confident with to allow them to change a bulb. They have to "prove it" to me before I would allow them to do it. Furthermore, it would be under very close supervision for the first couple of times before I OK it to let them do it on their own.I would rather have a few pissed off customers than to have one of my kids with his/her face blown apart.
