Last night all Film-Techers an then some met across form Balley's at Burbon Street. I'd estimate that about 45 to 55 people were around at the peak time. Special Thanks to Ian Price for coordinating this get together. Those in attendance included Sam Chavez, Larry Shaw,Gord McLeod, John Eickoff, Steve Guttag, Kelsey Black, Ki Boyd, Dave B. form CPI, Gordon Bachland, Tim Dulin, The entire QSC crew was also there and handed out t-shirts to all that attended(Thanks Guys!). There were others in attendance that unfortunately I didn't have ample time to talk with. After the drink(actually when the lame band started playing) the group broke up and some of us proceeded to the Rio to have dinner at the Seafood Buffet. This buffet is like taking a trip to heaven for those that enjoy seafood. It cannot be described.....you just have to go see it to believe it. This IS the busiest buffet in Vegas with out a doubt!
Next year several of us thought that the Film-Tech Party should move to its own suite. It has now grown out of proportion and deserves its own site. Gord and I both took pictures that we will have Brad post here soon.
If I left someones name off the list I appologise. Please let me know and I'll edit you in to the above.
Mark @ GTS....Looking foreword to seeing next years drink night get bigger! And I'll add that no one collapsed onto the floor from overintake....at least up till the time I left.

Sorry I missed it! I was unable to attend ShoWest this year. The get together seemed to have grown considerably from last year, which I did make, (and no one passed out T-shirts either!). Well, I guess I'll have to wait until 2002, unless a get-together is planned for ShowEast in Orlando, which I do hope to attend.

Yes it was great meeting Gordon McLeod, Steve Guttag, John Eickhof and David Bevilacqua from CPI. A glass was raised to John Paytlak and his wife. The usual suspects were there from the Telluride Film Festival. Many low quality beers were drunk. Next year David Bevilacqua and I are planning to secure a suite so that we may be more social and drink better bitter. Yes, Aaron, I will make sure to order "Nukies". Many thanks to the whole gang from QSC for showing up, showing the colors and passing out t-shirts to us all. It is this kind of support and friendship that breeds loyalty and QSC has that. The only thing missing was Brad Miller himself. Many people showed up just to meet him. Next year we may kidnap him and chain him to the CPI booth. (Come and see the most hideous site you will ever see! Born in a vat of Film-Guard, he has mutated in to the beast you see before you.)There were a great many people that said to me, after I introduced myself, yes, I read Film-Tech. There are a great many lurkers out there. The industry is paying attention.
After the Drink, a few of us went to the Rio to quaff some Nukies and gorge ourselves at the seafood buffet. It was a bacchanalian feast the likes we had never seen before. At one point, Ky had three plates of food going. I look forward to seeing Gordon and Mark's photographs. I am sure they will enjoy mine. I have already sent them to Brad.

Sorry I couldn't be there guys. I had just finished a move and am slammed with contract work at the present time. If only I had've known that QSC was going to pass out shirts!I have Ian's pictures and will get them posted later today (Friday). If Gordon and Mark can get me theirs quick enough, I'll add them into the stack. (Don't forget to include captions.)
Joe, start working on that Flash intro promoting 70mm immediately!!!

OK, that's it...I'm going to plan an overseas trip to coincide with next year's Showest meet. Sounds too good to miss (again!).I've never been to Vegas...umm...I've never been to the US!!!

I finished moving into a bigger house just the day before I left for Showest!! Michael,
I've never been to Austrailia either but I may open a FilmGuard sales office over there so I can deliver it faster and more reliably.

I must say it was quite nice meeting all of the Film-Tech posters and the (quite a few) lurkers. It is really nice to actually meet the people one converses with via the internet!Thanks to QSC for the lovely parting gifts (T-shirts).
